FAMILY PROMISE
Lent is here, Easter is coming and our next Family Promise rotation begins the first Sunday after Easter! Peace will host Family Promise, Sunday, April 27 thru Saturday, May 3. We need volunteers to provide meals, folks to host (interact and play with our families), and overnight hosts to spend the night and sleep at the church.
Other ways to participate, you can donate breakfast items for our grab and go breakfasts, for example granola, pop tarts, prepackaged muffins, shelf stable foods.
If your schedule doesn’t allow you to participate this month, mark your calendar for our next rotation, Sunday, June 22 thru Saturday June 28.
You can sign up via SignUp Genius or on the poster in the Narthex.
Thanks

Lenten Worship
This year, our Lenten theme is "The Way of the Heart," inviting us to walk the path of Christ with open hearts, walking with Jesus at the Stations of the Cross. For step of the stations marks a deep meaning of Jesus and his journey to the cross – the mission of his self-emptying love for us. Come and begin the journey and walk with him. Wednesday evening meals are served from 5:15pm-6:15pm. Worship is from 6:30pm-7:15pm. |

Family Promise - From the Board of Directors
Good morning, this is John Sutton on the Board of Directors for Family Promise. It has been a bit since I provided any updates from the Board of Directors. We have several items to share with you that I hope you find interesting. As many of you know we have two families currently enrolled in the transitional housing program, that is staying at churches while they take steps to stabilize their lives and move into permanent housing. We the Board are committed to continuing this program. We realize that each of you have taken on more hosting dates that has placed an extra strain on your recourses. We are actively seeking other churches to bring into the rotation. I will gladly reach out to any church or other organization that any of you can suggest to open discussions about hosting families. The Board has begun planning another fundraiser dinner like the one we had last year. We are planning on holding the event in August so look for more updates as we get closer. I will gladly put anyone that would like to help in touch with our fund-raising committee. Just have them drop me a line or call my cell. We are also making plans to bring back the Bed Race, in 2026. Family Promise Giving Day will happen 4/22/2025. We will be sending information to churches as well as sending information to regular donors on the event as it gets closer. Remember that 100% of what is given to Family Promise of New Braunfels is used to help families right here in New Braunfels. Many of you have asked about an executive director. Well, we are actively seeking a director and have hopes to fill the position in the near future. In the meantime, Board members are working closely with the two staff members to keep the program running smoothly. I'm making another appeal for help with transportation of the families. Without public transportation, getting families from the day center to childcare, to churches and jobs is expensive when we have to use Lyft or Uber. Some of you may remember the van that was used for several years. We have it but lack drivers. Do you know anyone that would like to help our families get around town? Perhaps you know someone that is a early bird or someone else that has an afternoon or evening free? Let me know and I'll reach out to them. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Thank you and your churches. John Sutton 830-387-9777 |

Mission Spotlight April 2025Lutheran World Relief Lutheran World Relief has been a dedicated light in the world and a first responder in times of crisis, responding to hurricane relief or wildfire disasters in the US or to famine, war or disease in faraway countries. Their website is a font of information on global ministry in a time of global distress. Please visit and see how you can help our neighbors in their times of need. An excerpt from their website gives you an insight into their mission and focus "Founded by Lutherans in the United States at the end of World War II, grounded in Lutheran theology and building on decades of experience, Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. We work with people based on need, regardless of race, religion or nationality and we do not evangelize. We provide aid in emergencies and help families restore their lives. We partner with communities to build and grow rural economies. We break the cycle of poverty, so families and communities can thrive. Our goal is to help people build self-sufficiency and create new community-owned approaches to problem-solving that will last long after our projects end." Sunday, April 27, our Mission Spotlight will be Lutheran World Relief and a dedicated offering will be collected to benefit LWR. God's StorytimeSunday Morning Worship with Our Children All Pre-K through Elementary grade children are invited each Sunday to join us for “God's Story”. This is our way of connecting God’s big story to their own stories at a level appropriate for young children. Together we dive into the scripture for the day using a variety of teaching resources. Our goal is to create a safe space for children to have meaningful conversations about God, Jesus, faith, and our everyday lives. “God’s Story” takes place during the scripture and sermon portion of our worship service (about 20-25 minutes). We meet in our Fellowship Hall, which is in visible proximity to our sanctuary and restrooms. The children are led by our wonderful team of trained and background checked adults from our congregation. |

Peace Ministries
PEACE PRAYER MINISTRY: Did you make any resolutions for the New Year? Many of us have a desire to have a more intimate prayer life, so might I suggest carving out more time for prayer and reflection? Peace Lutheran Church has an active Prayer Ministry. We have an Email Prayer Chain, we have a Zoom “Sweet Hour of Prayer” Group that meets every Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. and we have a Prayer loom that is included in our Sunday morning prayers. I would like to welcome new members to join our email Prayer Chain and our Monday morning Prayer Group. We have experienced some amazing, answered prayers this year and we have given comfort to many of our members in their times of distress. Please consider being a part of our Prayer Ministry in this new year. You can email me at beckyvoges@yahoo.com for more information. Our weekly Prayer Group Zooms every Monday at 9:00 am via Zoom only. Click HERE to join by Zoom. We have a devotion, share prayer requests and pray over each request. The group is led by Becky Voges. If you would like to be a part of the group, please email Becky (beckyvoges@yahoo.com). All prayer requests will be kept confidential. Prayer Chain Requests - email Becky (beckyvoges@yahoo.com). Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
