Pastor Jake grew up just down the road in San Antonio, TX.
Sensing the call even in high school, he pursued a theology and history degree from Texas Lutheran University.
From there he began his seminary training at the Lutheran Seminary Program in Austin. During that time, God kept opening the door to ministry and directed Pastor Jake to mission development where he spent two years working with a joint Lutheran and Presbyterian mission start in Bulverde, TX.
Pastor Jake began his first call at Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo, TX from 2009-2015. In 2015, he became the pastor of Peace Lutheran where he continues to serve with deep joy and gratitude.
He is married to Melissa and together, they have 4 children (Emma, Nate, Zac, and Sarah) which mean life is hectic and messy, but that's exactly where God tends to show up.
He is passionate about bringing the overflowing good news of God to all people, both insiders, and outsiders. One of his favorite gifts is the ability to work with people and empower them as the baptized ministers' God has called them to be. His areas of focus include invitational evangelism which connects with the community and vibrant worship drawing people into the fullness of God’s presence.
Favorite Scripture: Mark 8:34-35 "Then Jesus called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it."
