Sunday Preview – God Answers HannahRead 1 Samuel 1:9-11,19-20; 2:1-10; and Luke 1:46-55 Hannah cries out to God to give her a child. Like so many who have faced desperation and disappointment, Hannah does not give up on the future God has in store for her. She does not curse her plight, rather she finds herself regularly in prayer. Eventually she is given a son who will help shape the future of the people of Israel, so she continues to pray in thanksgiving to God. Join us on Sunday as we examine what it means to never give up hope and to come to God in prayer both in the struggle of life and in the times in which we simply share our gratitude of God’s abundant love. To catch up with where we left off last week and where we pick up this week, check out the videos from the Bible Project which include the conquest of Canaan in the Book of Joshua https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/joshua/ and the period of the Judges https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/judges/ Read 1 Samuel 1:9-11,19-20; 2:1-10; and Luke 1:46-55 |

Thanks from Family Promise
Once again, Peace has been the host to a successful Family Promise Rotation. We housed and fed 2 families, totaling 8 people. We had 2 teens, a preteen and a 4 and 7 year old, that brought our fellowship hall alive throughput the week. Thanks so much to the angels that provided snacks, towels and bedding for our families and hosts. The new towels were very much appreciated. Our old ones had seen better days, fluffy new ones were another way of welcoming our families. A big Thank You, to those that were able to bring a meal, visit with our guests, spend the night or do two or all three of our volunteer opportunities. All those that helped with the impromptu set up and take down of our makeshift bedrooms are very much appreciated. The social worker indicated that our families felt very comfortable with us and enjoyed their time at Peace. If you are interested in providing a graduation gift to our family of 5 as they move into stable housing and set up their new home, use this link for their Amazon Wish List. Mission Endowment Fund Grant Applications
Did you know that Peace Lutheran has a Mission Endowment Fund and that grants are given annually to extend God’s ministry to our community and beyond? It does, and the application deadline for 2025 funding is fast approaching. Any application requests to be considered for 2025 fund disbursement must be received in the church office by October 31, 2024.
The fund is designed to further the missions of Peace Lutheran beyond the allocations of the general operating budget. Grants are funded from the interest earned on contributions to the fund. Grant application forms are available from either the church office or church website. The forms can be filled out and returned to the church office by the October 31st deadline for consideration by the Mission Endowment Fund committee.
The new Endowment Fund section of the website can be found under the Give drop-down section of the Peace Lutheran main menu. In addition to the grant application form, you will find other helpful resources related to the fund and legacy planning. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan Anderson at nanderson5663@gmail.com.

Stewardship Drive: Grace in ActionWhat is Stewardship? Stewardship - the conducting, supervising, or managing of something especially : the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care All we have is a gift that has been given to us by the grace of God. God is a generous gift-giver which includes our lives, families, faith, basic needs, money, work, relationships, and even purpose. For that we are called to live graciously and generously joining the God of grace. During the month of October, we are lifting up our stewardship campaign, Grace in Action, in which you are invited to explore the way God has entrusted you with spiritual gifts, so that you can offer and commission those gifts in service of the Lord. Please fill out our Spiritual Gifts Inventory HERE to help you clarify your gifts and for the church to help mobilize our community to fulfill God’s greater mission of love. A pledge card will also be made available both online and in a future mailer to be brought back or filled out by Nov. 3rd for our Commitment/Stewardship Sunday. |

Nametags
Name tags are here and we are excited to put names to faces! We want to create a community that knows one another. Sometimes nametags create a system of insiders and outsiders; the people who have nametags and those who don’t. But the new system will be an easy on-demand thermal printing method that will give everyone a chance to be known without the problem of having some kind of special standing. Not everyone likes to wear a nametag, but our hope is that you’ll practice the gift of hospitality so that others can know your name and recognize the value of community.

StewardshipJourney to Generosity: The Way of Jesus October 13, 2024 Mark 10:24b, 25 –Jesus said to them again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God." When he talks about money, Jesus frequently uses words of warning. Why does wealth hinder rich people from entering the Kingdom of God? How are you managing? How can we, as steward-disciples, do better? |
God's StorytimeSunday Morning Worship with Our Children All Pre-K through Elementary grade children are invited each Sunday to join us for “God's Story”. This is our way of connecting God’s big story to their own stories at a level appropriate for young children. Together we dive into the scripture for the day using a variety of teaching resources. Our goal is to create a safe space for children to have meaningful conversations about God, Jesus, faith, and our everyday lives. “God’s Story” takes place during the scripture and sermon portion of our worship service (about 20-25 minutes). We meet in our Fellowship Hall, which is in visible proximity to our sanctuary and restrooms. The children are led by our wonderful team of trained and background checked adults from our congregation. If you’d like to help or have any questions, please reach out to Deacon Andrew. |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
